A Dress to cover up the dog bite

A Dress to cover up the dog bite

What an interesting week it has been! Long story short, I got bit by a dog while walking to my friend’s house (as per usual), which is only about 0.2 miles away. I turn onto her street, and see 3 dogs running outside. They start barking at me and running towards me. They don’t look like vicious dogs and I don’t think much of it, until one actually bites me .. in the butt. It was from behind so I didn’t see it actually doing it, but it did hurt! I tried walking away as fast as I could and an owner was out on the opposite side of the court. He called the dogs over sternly said “sorry” to me. I said “it’s ok” in a not-so-ok tone and continue walking hurriedly to my friends about 4 more houses down!

So sorry if some of these photos are a bit risqué or TMI, but I wanted to include what I was hiding/covering/dealing with underneath. This was my outfit to work (and a double-date after work) the day after it happened. I took the bandaging off at this point, but I did clean it and bandage it up with the help of my friend! ❤ –

The outfit –

Dress – Topshop Self tie dress in 0P (love that Topshop sells in petite sizes!). Got it last year but still wear it regularly. Love how classic shirt dresses are, and this color is my favorite! Also I love that the sleeves are just right and not too long. It has a nice tie at the waist and is slightly longer in the back.

ShoesVia Spiga Dinah Ankle Strap d’Orsay Pump in size 5.

Same floral blouse goes to work.

Same floral blouse goes to work.

Woohoo! We are headed into another week! This morning, without giving it too much thought, I reached, 2 mornings in a row now, for the same Maxwell Silk floral top as yesterday (see post HERE) . You may call me a blouse-repeaterer. I felt I didn’t get enough appreciation out of it on just Sunday, wearing only about 5 hours ;). So here we go, same blouse goes to work with me –

Love this May weather California is having – not too much heat yet!! Fingers crossed… I actually love overcast & cloudy days 🙂 And don’t mind rain – I love rainy days! Just wind… it’s wind I don’t like. I like all weather but wind…… And 100 F degree heat can become bothersome after a while also.

I must say, I felt very well put together in this outfit. I love these pants. These shoes are very cute AND comfortable. The blouse is silky and floral-y and my hair seems to be liking the change in shampoo and conditioner.

Thinking of doing some beauty posts also! Nordstrom is having the May beauty event so I may have made an impulse purchase… Very excited about it! Will share what I got when it gets here!

Outfit details –

Top / Blouse – Madewell Silk Shadowpetal Top in size 00. (Posted more info on previous post HERE)

Pants –  ATM ANTHONY THOMAS MELILLO  Five-Pocket Moto Leggings in size XS. (Another work-pant investment, I absolutely love these! 26.5″ inseam, score! Love the way they fit me! Kind of like how the leggings / pants look me BETTER than on the model online even! What!?) On the model –

Shoes – Naturalizer Megan Black Leather T-strap Pump in size 5. If you wanted to see more up-close pictures of these, no fear! I will be wearing these plenty more, so except them to make a frequent appearance here 😉 THEY ARE SO CUTE AND COMFORTABLE. I HAVE NO PROBLEM walking in these around the office all day. Plus your feet are strapped in there well, so no heel-slipping, and also no slipping slipping because they have decent grip on the bottom.) Might get them in the nude color also… hmm…..

Cheers fellow petite & non-petite style seekers! ❤

Mother’s Day Silk & Florals

Mother’s Day Silk & Florals

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, mamas, mommys, mums, etc out there! I am not a mom yet but (God-willing) hope to be one some day! I love my mom and think I have the best one in the world. Actually, I am pretty sure 😉 As we all do! I think mother’s are just the best and I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t have a friend like my mother! She understands me to my core and is there for me no matter what. No matter what. I aspire to be a mom at LEAST half as amazing to her to my kiddos some day!

My sister and I went to church this morning in downtown and it just so happened the Amgen Bike Tour of California was also finishing at the State Capitol today. Luckily we found parking not too far from the church and even got to see a bit of the womens race. Not too mention, the weather was GORGEOUS – a perfect 73 F degrees!

Top – Madewell Silk Shadowpetal Top in size 00. (It was a tad bit too low-cut for my liking, so I wore a white bandeau underneath. The sleeves are longer on me than they appear on the model, but I wouldn’t want the length of the top overall any shorter!) 🙂

On the model –

Jeans – Abercrombie & Fitch dark-wash jeggings / stretchy jeans in size 24 Short / 0 Short. (LOVEEEEE these!! Own 2 pairs!) Got them last autumn.

Shoes / pumps – Fly London Cade Pump (wearing these in my last post, more deets on these HERE 🙂 )

Business Casual: Fun-Fringe Friday!

Business Casual: Fun-Fringe Friday!

We made it to Friday! I love wearing fun-ner pieces to work on Fridays! The feeling is right and there are positive vibrations all around the office (donuts, etc 😉 ) Usually I will have something fun planned to do straight after work also, so in the morning I keep in mind I need to dress not just for work but after-work appropriate also ;D

Have you heard about the fringe trend going around? It is usually strongest around festival season but could last to winter ponchos also. This is fun, girly, shirt and is PERFECT for the day after you go to an All-you-can-eat sushi restaurant!!! XD. Also Northern California got real lucky with some beautiful Friday & weekend weather! –

Shirt – Caslon Fringed Lace & Knit Tee in size XXSP // Love this shirt. Love the intricate cut-out patterned detail and fringe texture. The shirt also comes in 4 colors! Thinking of getting the Navy color next. Also, LOVEEEE Nordstrom for offering petite-sizes in the Caslon brand! – Caslon Fringed-Lace Knit Tee

On the model –

Jeans – Big Star Denim Ava Super Skinny in 24P

Shoes – Fly London Cade Pump in color Luna Leather, Size 35 – Comfy block heeled pumps with a classic T-strap buckle and scallop details! Love! Really wanted them in the blue leather color, but they did not have my size! Love the metallic touch of Luna though! – Fly London Cade Pump

Purse / Bag – Ted Baker London Entangled Enchantment Clutch – Not too big, not too small. Love the (optional) 21 ½” crossbody strap drop which works well for even my height! Very spring and summer. Holds a decent amount of stuff as well! Got this clutch for when I was a bridesmaid for a wedding in April! Love the floral print and gold bow hardware! – Ted Baker London Entangled Enchantment Evening Bag

Business Casual: Denim on top

Business Casual: Denim on top

Happy Tuesday !!

Following the denim-to-work theme for this Tuesday! Today I wore a most comfortable button-up denim shirt and my beloved leggings (but they’re totally work-appropriate, ok??) See ?? –

I love taking a backpack to work. It is soon convenient! Mine is a mini black leather backpack and it is very versatile, meaning it also goes hiking with me on weekends. It is my little adventure buddy, as well as my professional sidekick. Definitely recommend getting a take-anywhere little backpack. They are comfortable, convenient, and both your hands are free. This one I own is also very durable, I have had it since December and it has gone with me EVERYwhere. Hiking, to walking miles in the city, as well as to work 5x a week (with the exception of yesterday :p ).  Also – You can totally customize your backpack with pins! I have 2 on mine already, and plan on adding more as sentimental pins come into my life!!

My shoes are ankle-strap black suede pumps with just the right amount of height with a block heel. Very comfortable, and no need to worry about your heel slipping out (we all know…).

Business Casual: Denim to work

Business Casual: Denim to work

Does your office require business-formal (no jeans) or business-casual? Or maybe uniform? Maybe just casual (*cough* Google *cough*)? My 8-5 allows a pretty lax dress code – just no ripped denim, spaghetti straps, etc (pretty standard).

Standing 5 feet tall, it can be very hard to find jeans that fit well (especially length-wise), as well as tops that don’t overpower my small frame and don’t hide my figure completely.

I like to splurge a bit on “work jeans”, made of higher quality denim so they look good longer and can withstand the washer. As we all know, designer denim can be especially tricky because they are sewn for taller girls and rarely come in petite sizes.

I feel I scored big time with these that I opted for this Monday morning –

On the model online –

dl1961 crop jeans

Jeans – DL1961 Florence Instasculpt Crop Skinny Jeans in Powerhouse wash in size 24.

Since they are the “crop” cut the inseam is [only] 25.5″. My inseam is 26″ for skinny jeans to fit me juuuust rightt. Anything shorter than this I am happy to find! The denim is very soft and the fit is tight all the right places, but not too tight (like, say, my Abercrombie & Fitch jeggings). They are very work-appropriate and I love them! Though they were on the pricier side, I jumped at purchasing these after I was wowed by the fact designer denim was sitting above my ankles and not dragging on the floor once properly on. 🙂

Gray top – Madewell (past season)

Shoes / heels – Nina Originals “Francie” pump

Purse / bag – Marc Jacobs ‘Recruit’ Leather Crossbody Bag
